It's a kind of cliché of Korean daily life ahead of winter season.
I bring back from time to time the days my mother and her sisters make Kimchi together at home before sharing them.
From soaking the cabbages in salt water to seasoning them was likely to be very hard physically (it is for sure).
As for me, I've never made Kimchi on my own since my marriage. Because, it is more convenient to buy some when needed and moreover it is more efficient in terms of time and cost.
It remains just a nostalgic scene in my memory.
