There must be many reasons combined but if I add one thing more to this, our mindset about the death has changed quite a lot.
In korean traditional mind, offspring is needed to make offering retual for their parents even ancestors but today's people don't care much about afterlife and even they don't trust it. What counts is to enjoy a life alive.
