I agree that going on an exchage visit to another country is the best way to learn a new language and find out another culture.
In another country,it would be more likely to be exposed to a native language environment, and I am pretty sure experience is a better way to learn something new, direct experience would be helpful.For example, to open a bank account, to order food at the restaurant,super market and many other places, we have no choice but to speak only the nature language.There are many opportunities to communicate with nateve speakers and they hardly ever speak slower for our convenience.So it can be a good advantage to easily get used to the speed of the native speaker.We also usually take language classes to learn and improve langauage skills.Since most classes are made up of multinational students, it is a piece of cake to make foreign friends and cummunicate with them.There are also many local language schools offering a high standard language program such as Cambridge or Ielts.There are also many teachers at language schools,most of whom are dedicated to students to help them improve their language skills.
By living with local homestay family members, we can experience their culture directly,and get to know culture difference,which we wouldn't know without living together with native persons.Local language schools also offer us the good opportunity to experience diffenent culture.By engaging in some activities, we will be able to know local history,life style and many other things.While staying in another country, we can visit some historical places,museums,stadiums and tourist attractions.We can also try to eat local food,read local news papers and warch local TV programs,which all help us understand and know cultures.It is also possible for us to get to know another culture through students from other countries.
In summary, going on an exchange visit to another coutry is the best way to learn a new language and find out another culture in a shore period because of many good opprotunities and environment.
