⊙ to 부정사 vs. 동명사
*forget/remember to 부정사: ~할 것을 잊다/기억하다
*forget/remember ~ing: 했던 것을 잊다/기억하고 있다
*try ~ing: 시험 삼아 해보다/ try to 부정사: ~하려고 애쓰다
*stop ~ing: ~을 그만두다/ stop to 부정사: ~하기 위해 멈추다
⊙ 대부정사 : to + 동사원형에서 반복되는 동사부분 생략
A: Shall we go to the movies tonight?
B: I’d like to, but I have a lot of homework to do.
Cf. 대동사 : As my collection of rare books grew, so did the need for a new shelf.
⊙ to부정사와 어울리는 동사/형용사/명사
: decide to, intend to, want to, would like to, easy to, glad to, believe to, effort to, the appeal to, impossible to, prefer to부정사 rather than to부정사, be expected to, happen to, be bound to, grow to, come to, mean to, the right to, be encouraged to, need to, pretend to
⊙ 동명사와 어울리는 동사
: resist ~ing, go ~ing, 전치사 ~ing, consider ~ing, avoid ~ing, resent ~ing, be busy ~ing, recommend ~ing, give up ~ing, look forward to ~ing, be worth ~ing
⊙ to 부정사를 목적격 보어로 받는 5형식 동사
: urge, allow, permit, enable, cause, expect, want, tell, require, petition, encourage, ask, advise, force, invite, persuade
⊙ 부정사와 동명상의 동사적 성질
* 수동태 : I want it to be delivered.
* 부정 : I advise you not to smoke.
* 의미상의 주어 : I’m waiting for him to come. / It’s very nice of you to help me.
⊙ 관용표현
• can't help ~ing = cannot but 동사원형 = have no choice but to 부정사
: ~하지 않을 수 없다
• There is no ~ing = It is impossible to 부정사 : ~은 불가능하다, ~할 수 없다
• It's no use ~ing = It is of no use to 부정사 : : ~은 아무 소용이 없다
• be worth ~ng = It is worth while to 부정사 : ~해 볼 만한 가치가 있다
• do nothing but 원형 : ~하기만 하면 된다
(cf. do anything but 원형 : -을 제외하고는 뭐든지 한다)
• What do you say to ~ing? : ~하는 것이 어떨까?
• have difficulty [trouble/a hard time] ~ing : ~하는데 어려움을 겪다
• not [never] ~ without ~ing : ~하면 반드시 ~한다
• feel like ~ing = would like to 부정사
• be busy ~ing : ~하느라고 바쁘다
• go ~ing : ~하러 가다
• (up)on ~ing : ~하자마자
• be far from ~ing : 결코 ~ 않다
