(강의 내용 정리)
8강에서는 가정법에 대해서 배웠는데요, 평소에 어렵게 생각했던 부분이라 더욱 더 열심히 들었습니다! 크게 3가지로 나뉩니다.
1. 가정법의 기본 형태
2. 가정법의 도치 (미래, 과거, 과거 완료)
3. 가정법 대용어구
여기서 먼저 가정법의 뜻을 보면 현재나 과거의 반대 상황을 가정하는 것입니다.
* If l were tall -> 현재의 반대
*lf l had been tall -> 과거의 반대
가정법의 if는 조건절의 if와 다른데 어떻게 다른지 알아보았는데요 If you need any help -> 사실 그대로, If l were you-> 현재 상황 반대
가정법 미래와 과거 과거 완료 세가지로 나뉩니다.
미래
If + s + should + 동사원형, s + v +조동사(will) + 동사원형-> 가능성이 희박한 미래, 미래의 조건
예시 문장) If it should snow tomorrow, l will stay indoors
과거
If + s + 동사과거, s + 조동사 과거(would, could) + 동사원형 -> 현재의 반대를 가정
예시 문장) If that television were cheaper, l would buy it today.
과거완료
If + s + had + pp, s + 조동사과거 + have pp -> 과거의 반대를 가짐
If someone had offered me a ride, I might have gone to the concert.
혼합가정법에서는 If절과 주절의 시제가 다름
공식) If 주어 had p.p, 주어 would 동사원형 : 과거에 "~했었다면" 현재 "-할텐데"
if가 생략되면 도치가 일어난다는 부분이 중요합니다!
미래
If + s + should + 동사원형 -> Should + s + 동사원형
ㅡㅡㅡs + v, s + v -> 접속사 vs should -> 해석으로
Should he ㅡㅡㅡ, s + v에서 ㅡㅡㅡ에는 동사원형이 들어가야 함.
과거
If + s + 과거동사(were) -> were + s + 명사/형용사
If Valeria were not so tired, She would join us for dinner.
-> Were Valeria not so tired, she would join us for dinner.
과거완료
If + s + had p.p -> Had 주어, p.p
If I had completed my master's degree, I would have gotten a better job
-> Had i completed my master's degree, I would have gotten a better job
If절을 대신하는 ' without + 명사 '
I couldn't finish this assignment without your help
-> I could never have finished this assignment without my coworker's help
어휘
consecutive : 연속적인, 계속되는
예문) ATLP announced that its stock value had risen for the fifth consecutive year.
동의어: consecutive=successive=in a row
latest : 최신의
예문) Mero Textiles had to reprint their latest catalogs because of a few minor errors.
콜로케이션과 동의어- latset updates(최신소식), latest products(신제품)=up-to-date
substantial(양, 크기가) 상당한
The company has used a substantial share of its budget for new projects.
signisicant=remarkable=considerable=sharp + fall, rise
confidential 기밀의
Please remind all employees to keep confidential documents in a secure location.
confidential nature/information : 비밀의 속성/ 비밀 정보
secret = classified
unanimous 만장일치의
unanimous vote, be unanimous for : ~찬성하다

학창시절에도 어려워했던 가정법 부분을 토익에서 다시 나올줄은 몰랐는데, 이렇게 가정법이 토익에서 가끔 출제되는데도 불구하고 가정법을 더 쉽게 느껴지게 만들어준 무료강의 너무 감사합니다! 어휘부분에서도 항상 unanimous와 anonymous를 헷갈려했던 부분이었는데 이렇게 다시 한번 정리해주셔서 매회차 강의를 들을때마다 실력이 상승되는 것 같아 뿌듯합니다!
