Chapter 18 명사절 2
이번 강의는 명사절 두번째 시간이었어요.
- 의문대명사 who, what, which, whose -> 불완전(주어 or 목적어 or 보어가 없음)
+ 뒤에 to부정사가 바로 올 수 있음
I don't know which to eat.
- 의문형용사 what/which/whose + 명사 -> 불완전
[의문형용사 + 명사]가 무장에서 주어, 목적어 보어 역할
What price you paid is irrelevant.(목적어)
+ N to부정사
- 의문부사 when, where, why, how -> 완전한 절
I will notify you when the repairs will be finished.
+ to 부정사
- 명사절 '의문사 + to 부정사' -> 의문사 + 주어 + should + 동사
- 복합관계대명사 = '대명사+관계대명사'의 성질. 선행사가 포함되어 있어요.
1) whoever = anyone who 누구든 간에
Whoever painted the picture is a terrific artist.
2) whomever = anyone whom 누구든 간에
3) whatever = anything that 무엇이든 간에
Please take whatever you need.
4) whichever = anything that 어느 것이든 간에
whichever = anyone who 어느 사람이든 간에
- 복합관계형용사는 whatever, whichever 뒤에 명사가 오는 형태예요. 명사절이나 부사절로 사용될 수 있어요.
복합관계대명사 whatever you need, 네가 무엇이 필요하든 간에
복합관계형용사 whatever car you need 네가 어떤 차가 필요하든 간에
Whatever car you need V => 명사절
Whatever car you need, S+ V => 부사절
- 복합관계대명사 다음에는 불완전한 문장이 와요.
Whoever files a complaint will be contacted by a service representative.
- 복합관계사를 쓸지 의문사를 쓸지는 문맥에 따라 결정해요. (who: 누가, whoever 누구든지간에)
Whoever is chosen for the award will receive $1,000.
Who will play that character hasn't been disclosed yet.
- what절은 오직 명사절로만 사용돼요. 그리고 항상 불완전해요.
It is easy to see what is best for the firm.
- That절은 명사절/형용사절/부사절로 사용할 수 있어요.
1) 명사절(완전한 절)
We were told that there were no seats available.
2) 형용사절(불완전한 절)
Sophie gave me a suggestion that may help us.
3) 부사절(숙어 표현으로 사용, 완전한 절)
The cake was so delicious that I had a second piece.
- what: 불완전 that:완전
The professor wants to figure out what motivates students to learn.
That she had entered the wrong building was apparent.

오늘 공부한 어휘예요.
- attached 첨부된, 부가적으로 붙은
1) attached file 첨부파일
2) 문장 맨앞에 도치되어 나갈 수 있어요.
attached 첨부, enclosed 동봉, included 포함 -> 뒤에 동사+주어 순으로 도치
ex) Attached is the list of our customers.
- connected 연결된
서로 대등한 두개가 관계상으로 혹은 물리적으로 연결될 때 사용해요
- early 조기의, (시간상) 이른
early retirement 조기 퇴긴
early bird special 조조 할인
- previous (시간상) 이전의 (former, ex-)
- extensive 광범위한, 포괄적인
extensive research 광범위한 연구
extensive experience 풍부한 경험
extensive damage 엄청난 피해
- spacious (장소가) 넓은 (roomy)
- outstanding 뛰어난, 눈에 띄는, 미결제된
1) outstanding performance -> exceptional
2) outstanding balance -> 미결제된 overdue/unpaid/delinquent
- evident 명백한 (apparent, obvious)
