When using 'So' as a transition or to mean 'as a result' you need the comma otherwise the definition changes to "extremely" like in "There were so many people at the party."

영어 첨삭을 받을 때 받은 문장인데....

아무리봐도 문장에서 접속사는 when  하나 뿐이고 동사는 need, changes 입니다. when 이 접속사임을 알지만.... 의미상으로 부사의 느낌으로 사용한 듯 합니다.

otherwise 대신에 but 을 쓰면 더 좋은 문장이 되지 않을까요?
