답은 c에 있었고요, 제가 궁금한 부분은 (b)에서 whom이 아니라 who가 아닌가 하는 건데요,
동사 had lost 의 주어가 없으니까 who가 있어야 할 것 같거든요.
Mazo claimed은 삽입어구라고 치고요.
목적격인 whom이 들어간 것은 Mazo claimed의 목적어라서 그런 건가요?
그러면 동사 had lost 의 주어는 어디로 갔나요?

whom은 who나 that, 혹은 생략이 가능한데 본 문장에서는 Richard Nixon에 대한 보충 문장에서 claimed에 대한 목적어로 쓰였습니다.
Interestingly, Richard Nixon - whom Mazo claimed had lost the election because of the fraud - asked for the series to be terminated.
1) Interestingly, Richard Nixon asked for the series to be terminated
2) Mazo claimed Richard Nixon had lost the election because of the fraud.
두 문장을 섞은건데 여기서 겹치는 닉슨을 관계대명사로 받으면서 whom으로 변환시킨 것으로 보입니다.
who여야한다는 생각.....
